It is often hard to fit taking medications into your schedule, especially if you are taking many medications. The key is finding a system that works for you, which helps you to keep organized and to remember to take the medications.
Here are some tips to help you manage your medication schedule:
- Make taking medication part of your daily routine. Take it right before or after another activity that you do on a daily basis, such as dressing, eating breakfast (ensure that the medication can be taken with food before trying this), taking a shower, or going to bed.
- Try placing the medication vial in a place where you will see it. Near the coffee pot or by the door are a few good places. Be sure that the place you choose is out of the reach of children and away from heat and humidity.
- Set an alarm (on your watch, clock, electronic organizer, cell phone, or handheld computer) to remind you when it's time for your dose.
- Leave notes around the house where you will see them. Place notes on the bathroom mirror, the refrigerator door, the TV remote control, or next to the place where you put your wallet or purse.
